The Media Archive for Central England (MACE) has purpose built and professionally equipped facilities at the University of Lincoln's Brayford Pool campus.
These include a temperature and humidity controlled store for film and video tape as well as secure digital storage.
We also have specialist film and video tape equipment, which we use to assess collections when they arrive at the archive. It can also be used to enable people to view film and video held by us or that is held by a member of the public, an organisation or by archives that lack the equipment required to safely view their moving image collections.
MACE has a modern transfer facility that houses equipment to copy most obsolete film and video tape formats. We have a state of the art Golden Eye 4 film scanner which can transfer 35mm, 16mm, 9.5mm and standard and Super 8 film at a resolution of up to 4K! We have also developed the skills required to transcode obsolete video codecs, an increasingly pressing issue as a result of the explosion of technological developments of the 20th and 21st centuries.
