Our ambition is for you to make as many of the titles in MACE's care as accessible as possible. We are a long way from achieving that ambition and need your help to achieve it.
The process of making film and video tape accessible involves specialist skills and equipment. Films and video tapes are held in a purpose built store with a controlled environment. We conduct an initial assessment on all collections that we receive. Materials are selected, repaired and cleaned in preparation for copying. Digitisation follows, which takes approximately ten times the duration of the material to complete, and then the work in the digital realm can begin. Cataloguing follows, after which a version appears on this website. In the meantime, we continue to care for the original item. The process can take years.
A large proportion of the money that supports this work has to be self-generated. Can you help us render more material accessible?
If you love film and value the amazing contribution it can make to understanding our history, we invite you to make a donation, and help us to safeguard and share the Midlands' moving image heritage. A donation, however large or small, makes all the difference.
Please donate by using a bank transfer (request details here) and don't forget that if you are a UK tax payer MACE can receive an additional 25p for every £1 donated - please download and complete the form below.
Thank you!
