Description

The opening section shows the visit by helicopter of RAF Marshal Sir John Slessor to the school on 4 July 1952. He is welcomed and inspects cadets before taking off in his helicopter (a Bristol Sycamore). The next section is c1957 and shows the boys filmed informally in the dining hall. This is followed by views of the boys ice skating during the harsh winter of 1947 followed by shots filmed inside the masters' common room.

Next we have a group of boys wearing Victorian costumes taking part in a mass rugby match on the school field. A film crew are seen capturing the action - this is the filming of the feature film ‘Tom Brown’s Schooldays’ during September 1950.

The final section is in colour and shows London Transport trams followed by views of some of the outdoor elements of the Festival of Britain site at the South Bank (1951).
