Tony Francis introduces the programme on location. The first report is about the unsolved murder of Charles Walton who was found dead in a field at Meon Hill in Warwickshire in February 1945. The case is the oldest murder case in the county which remains open and since the killing on Valentine's Day there have been allegations that witchcraft and black magic were involved. Views of Lower Quinton village and the cottage where Walton lived. Tony chats to local man Graham Sanders about the local legends and to Sandy Mellor who talks about horses not wanting to go on the hill. Newspaper cuttings about the murder. B/w still of Charles Walton who was a 74-year-old widower and b/w still of the farmer who employed him, Alfred Potter. Tony talks to villager Cyril Kibblewhite who remembers Walton as a loner. Tony returns to the scene of the murder with the original hedge laying equipment that were used to murder Walton. The landlord of the College Arms, Tony Smith admits that that they still do not talk about the murder locally. View of the entrance to the Royal Engineers camp at Long Marston which housed prisoners of war in 1945. It is alleged that Walton's name is mentioned in an old book of folklore where he was said to have encountered a black dog at dusk on successive days before his sister suddenly died. Interview with Inspector Graham Sutherland of the police history society where the murder weapons are kept. B/w still of occultist Margaret Murray who believed that Walton was sacrificed.
The second report is from Anna Soubry who visits Rutland Water for an item about sailing. Anna talks about how she sailed as a child with her father but never enjoyed the sport. She talks to a group of young women about sailing and gets ready into the waterproof clothing that is required for winter sailing. Interview with Declan Flanagan about the safety of sailing on reservoirs compared with the open sea and with Olympic hopeful John Merricks and veteran cox Tom Shepherd. Anna also meets her mother Frances who is an enthusiastic sailor. Finally Anna talks to the water with instructor Garth Webster before ending the item with a cake in the café. Tony Francis ends the programme with a compilation of camcorder wildlife clips sent in by viewers which show foxes in a garden at Old Dalby and a fallow deer at Bramshall.
