The opening section shows a farm show held in Paris last week (89th Concours General Agricole) during which stands selling British meat were pelted with stink bombs (although these shots show the displays and a number of anti-British banners and no actual confrontations).
French farmers want a ban on imports of British meat and in particular lamb which they see as too much competition for their own produce. This type of trade ban however is against EEC rules and the meeting at the Council of Ministers in Brussels has been called to see a way out of the deadlock. We see Peter Walker MP arriving at Brussels airport and being driven in an official car to the Council of Ministers. Inside the building Walker is seen in meetings with the British delegation and in the main debating chamber. He also chairs a press conference about their lack of progress. We also see views of Brussels city centre and the European Commission building. At the end of the report Walker is seen leaving as the commentary states that the discussions will continue into 1980.
