We open with a view of the entrance to Cleethorpes pier. On a street a group of people are looking at a win-a-car promotion (guess the number of peas in a very large jar). We then see views of the beach including children riding donkeys, families sitting on the sand and deck chairs. Next there are shots of yacht racing and people water skiing in the sea. The next section shows a British Legion rally (slight camera fault on this section) with men parading with British Legion flags. A town show is next with shots of sheep dog display, and a trapeze and high wire act. After a short section showing a mayor standing with a group of Red Cross members (centenary of the British Red Cross 1859-1959), we see a veteran car and motorcycle run with vehicles leaving a start line as a crowd looks on. Women and girls holding wearing sashes and a beauty queen trophy are next followed by the start of a cycle race with teams from the BSA and Sun teams visible and the mass start of a race under the sign for Wonderland. A brief shot of a group of officials on a rollercoaster follows. We then see large crowds in an outdoor pool (the largest pool in the country according to the inter-title) and a group of people in bathing costumes sitting for the camera.
After an establishing shot of the Winter Gardens, we continue with views of the pleasure boats, children's paddling pool and the miniature railway before we see night shots of the town's illuminations. We end with the winners of the car competition (Mr and Mrs Durrans of Denaby in Yorkshire) collecting their car (a Hillman Minx) from the Mayor of Cleethorpes on 26 September 1959.

According to the South Yorkshire Times Mr and Mrs Durrans guessed that there were 101,921 peas in the jar which was the closet to the correct answer of 101,925. Unfortunately, not being able to drive, their friend a Mr Butterfield drove the car away for them from Cleethorpes.
