Description

We open with a dance routine from the Dougie Squires' Second Generation (Luck be a Lady) as the eight finalists walk onto the stage. Bob Warman introduces the programme and welcomes the judges who are: Shaw Taylor, Richard O'Sullivan, Judy Geeson, Pam Ayres and Dougie Squires. We then have a series of film inserts of the eight women. We see Jenny Lee Harris from West Bromwich who is a student at Thomas Telford High School. She is seen in the library and walking her dog. Debbie Shore from Borrowash is seen playing ten pin bowls. Lesley Holiday from Walsall is seen shopping in Walsall market and modelling a wedding dress. Mandy Brown from Aldridge is seen walking in her home town and playing darts. Deborah Wright from Burton Joyce is seen working as a secretary at an electronics firm. Sandy Driscoll from Cheltenham is also a secretary for an electronics firm. Next is Marcia Taylor from Cradley Heath who is seen swimming and finally Kay Shaw from Uttoxeter who is seen working in promotions at a Renault car dealership.

The next section shows the woman parading in evening wear (described by an off-camera Lynda Berry). Bob then chats to past winners of the contest: Pamela Calver from Castle Bromwich (1973), Carole Walters from Stoke on Trent (1975), Marlena Horswill from Selly Oak (1976) and Lynn Perry from Malvern (1977).

The women return wearing swimming costumes and while the judges deliberate we have another dance routine from the Dougie Squires' Second Generation. Debbie Shaw is then crowned the winner.
