We open with a view of a terraced street in Cotmanhay. We then see 17 year old Anthony sitting on a disused railway bridge with a group of skinhead friends. They are chatting about glue sniffing - which they have given up.
Anthony is then seen walking into Bib's Cafe. Inside he is interviewed by Gill Pyrah. He describes his background, the break-up of his family, truanting from school and involvement with crime.
Next we then see Anthony's father, Jack Green, driving an Erewash Borough Council dustbin lorry. His voice over is used to explain that he is separated from his wife (Anthony lives with his mother whilst Anthony's sister, Sarah lives with her father). We then see Sarah arriving at home.
Jack Green is then interviewed about Anthony's childhood and we see stills of a young Anthony.
Social worker Dave Miller is then interviewed about the help he has given to Anthony.
Next we see Anthony and friends walking through fields where they come across glue sniffing paraphernalia. Anthony's interview is then continued where he blames boredom for his problems.
We see shots of waste ground in Cotmanhay and Anthony and a friend are seen sitting in a vandalised bus shelter. They board a bus and sit on the top deck (cut to music - Deceives the Eye by Madness).
Next we return to Jack Green who reads a letter Anthony wrote from a police cell where he asks for forgiveness. There are final shots of Anthony walking with a poem about his future on the soundtrack.
