Description

We see countryside in the Derbyshire Peak District and men building a drystone wall. In travelogue style with a voice over we then visit: Matlock Bath; Buxton; Ashbourne on market day; Chesterfield including the Town Hall; Revolution House at Old Whittington; Haddon Hall including interiors and shots of the grounds; Chatsworth House and gardens; Peveril Castle; ramblers and climbers at Mam Tor; people entering a pot hole; a Blue John mine and a modern quarry including shots of a railway wagon being hauled by cable at Sheep Pasture Junction on the High Peak incline near Cromford; pipes being spun at Stanton Ironworks; a reservoir; Tissington village and well dressing; Eyam village and its association with the plague; a cricket match at Chesterfield; anglers at Cromford Bridge on the River Derwent (with reference to the writer Izaak Walton); interiors of Masson Mill at Matlock Bath showing production work; dyeing of cloth; live stock and events at the Bakewell Show; Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment with ram mascot; unnamed nylon and knitwear factories; winter skiing; a regimental banquet and finally a train passing over the viaduct at Monsal Head
