Description

Programme introduced by Zia Mohyeddin. The first item looks at the on-going debate on the establishment of black sections within the Labour Party. We see an extract from a speech against the idea made by Ron Lisk-Carew of the Birmingham Perry Barr Labour party at the party's annual conference in Blackpool.

In the studio Mita Hackett chairs a debate on the issue between Paul Sharma and Sharon Atkin who are in favour and Labour activist Bob Lee who is against.

The next item is a musical performance by the Marks Brothers who sing 'Jo Jo's Bar'.

Finally in the studio Hilary Minster talks to Andrew Robinson who has written a biography of the film-maker Satyajit Ray about Ray's new film, the Home on the World. We see several clips from the film. Under the end credits there are clips from this week's Here and Now on 4 film: The Empress and the Munshi.
