Description

Programme introduced in the studio by Zia Mohyeddin. The first item is an interview on film with the Indian novelist Anita Desai. In a park in Birmingham Mita Hackett talks to her about her new book ‘In Custody’.

Back in the studio the Iranian born singer Shusha (Shusha Guppy) performs her own composition ‘Here I Love You’.

Next in the studio Peter Emina talks to the black American opera singer Howard Haskin about his stage work. To introduce the item we hear an audio clip over a still of Haskin performing.

This is followed by a studio musical performance from the Southern Indian veena player Dr V. Doreswarmy Iyengar accompanied by A.V. Anand and Mohana Lakshmipathy. The programme ends with another song in Persian from Shusha.
