Description

Programme presented by Tony Francis. The Shire Oak school brass band from Brownhills near Walsall has been invited to play in South Africa. The school's headmaster is in favour of the idea but the local council are against because of the racist policies of the South African government. On film Rob Whitehouse interviews John Mastrantone, community relations officer; headmaster Alan Mills; and Councillor Phil Wood, Conservative Education Chairman. There are also vox pops with pupils and shots of the band rehearsing.

Next in the studio Reg Harcourt interviews the leaders of the three main political parties within Birmingham City Council: Neville Bosworth (Conservative); Clive Wilkinson (Labour); and Ken Hardeman (Liberal) about the forthcoming local council elections. Also in the studio parliamentary expert Robert Waller is interviewed. He has written a book that predicts a Conservative victory at the next General Election.

Finally in the studio Jon Lander interviews the comedian Ken Goodwin about a recent trip to the Falklands with relatives of killed British troops and his politics.

A clip from last week's programme about Screaming Lord Sutch closes the programme under the end credits.
