Description

We see a banner 'Save Our Steel' which has been placed on the Strathclyde Hotel in Corby.

Terry Lloyd interviews Jan Langner from the hotel who predicts that trade will be affected by the closure of the steelworks.

We see a row of black taxi cabs.

Lloyd then interviews Kelvin Glendenning who likens the situation to Jarrow in the 1930s.

In the file the next interviewee is named as John McGowan of the joint shop stewards, this information is likely to be wrong and probably refers to the final interviewee. On film the third interviewee talks about social problems in Corby.

(shots of the steelworks and possibly the town are missing from here).

The fourth interviewee talks about the trade union opposition to the plan to close the steel works.

A brief establishing shot of Corby steel works ends the item.
