Pat Astley introduces the item with a piece to camera standing outside the Uplands secondary school in Smethwick. He introduces the headteacher Mr Kenneth Watkiss, who tells the reporter more about the brass band which is comprised of some 30 pieces. He tells the reporter that it is conducted by Mr Arthur Matthews, ex Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. He goes on to talk about the history of the band, before taking the reporter into the school hall to hear them play.
