Lionel Hampden introduces his report with a piece to camera outside a pub. We then see shots of the village of Belbroughton in Worcestershire. Lionel then visits Belbroughton Forge where craftsmen make scythes and metal cutting blades. We see plater Charles Preece at work making a blade (he provides a commentary on the process) and we also see the grinders making the blades sharp. Lionel talks to the works manager Wilfred Saunders about the manufacturing process and the regional variations in farming tools.
