Description

Shots of the Lancaster bomber leaving the hangar, the engine start up and taxiing. Views of the renovation work underway inside a hangar. Interview with Squadron Leader Richard Jones about the months of work involved, difficulties encountered in obtaining materials and spare parts and the dedication of the men involved. Interview with Corporal Les Perrin, a member of the Lancaster's regular crew at air displays about the emotional background to working on the Second World War aircraft. Shots of take-off and views inside the aircraft in flight. Air to air shots (cut to music). In a voice over Master Engineer Derek Butcher, the only member of the aircraft's crew who actually served in a wartime Lancaster talks about his experiences in combat. (Some of the air to air shots are inter-cut with b/w archive of the bombing of Dresden (Pathe).
