Description

In this film we see various shots of the Starkholmes Carnival near Matlock in Derbyshire including shots of the retiring carnival queen, the new queen being crowned and on a float. There are views of a brass band, people fencing, a hog roast and a helicopter landing. Guest of honour is the Derbyshire heavyweight boxer Jack Bodell who also takes part in a tug-of-war competition. Next there are shots of the Tansley Fete day fancy dress parade and a miniature train ride. Later in the film there are shots of family christenings including shots outside All Saints Church in Matlock. The film ends with scenes of the animal enclosures at Chester Zoo.
