Description

"Opening New Market at Builth Wells October, 1953". The opening section shows views of the new livestock market in the town in Powys, livestock in pens, shots of a mayor making a speech in the auction ring (a notice indicates that it was constructed by Frank Dale's firm) another speaker is Tudor Watkins MP and we also see views of an auction. There are also brief shots of people walking in the town.

"Walk Around Hereford Market, Winter 1953". Continuing in b/w we see views of the livestock market concentrating on the buildings and views of cattle and sheep in pens. There are also shots of pigs in an old part of the market and a sale led by E Hammond & Sons Auctioneers. In the background we can see the Cattle Market Tavern and the Corn Exchange. This is followed by street scenes in Hereford with traffic, a brief shot of a barber cutting a man's hair and further shots back in the market inside a newly built building.

"Opening New Pig Market - Hereford. March, 1954". This section shows speeches from dignitaries at the opening event. The visitors mill around outside and then tour another building. There are also views of prize winning pigs in pens.

"Opening of Cattle Market, Brecon 25th March 1955". The opening section has a double exposure fault but we then see views of a group of men in a marquee and speeches in a cattle shed.

"New Market at Leominster 3rd Oct 55". This final section is in colour and shows cattle in pens at the livestock market. During some sections the image is obscured.
