Description

We see views of swans at Patshull scout camp in Staffordshire followed by shots of the scout camp itself with rows of tents and a group of boys being instructed in knot tying. The next section shows a group of scouts gathered outside Wolverhampton low-level station in the first stage of their journey to the world scout jamboree in Greece (August 1963). We also see the boys and their leaders meeting the Mayor of Wolverhampton in a room at the Town Hall and then on the platform at the low level station posing for a BBC film camera and boarding their train. We then visit Willenhall comprehensive school for a combined scout rovers and rangers weekend including country dancing in the school hall and a religious service led by Reverend David Wood, the vicar of St George's church in Wolverhampton. We then see the visitors to the conference boarding coaches at the end of the weekend (the audio track includes some audio only vox pops at this point). After a brief sequence showing a meeting of senior scouts in Stafford (in a room) we visit Windsor Castle for another scouting event. We see crowds in the grounds of the castle trying to catch a glimpse of the Duke of Edinburgh and the chief scout who are inspecting scouts. We then see a parade of scouts and marching bands. Finally we see the group from Wolverhampton stopping in a wood in Oxfordshire for a picnic during their return journey from Windsor.
