We see a series of filmed stills showing Ralph Assheton being selected as Rushcliffe candidate, campaigning and winning a by-election. We then see a map of the Rushcliffe constituency followed by views of industrial areas including a sign for Beeston Boiler Company, a railway line and a long shot of the Boots factory at Beeston. We then see an exterior of the Tudor Cinema in West Bridgford, a sign and shots of Clifton village, the Palace Cinema and a street in Beeston. We then see posters comparing statistics from the 1931 Labour Government to the 1935 National Government. This is followed by a street in West Bridgford and a pylon and view of a colliery train. The final section shows newspaper headlines about Italian and German re-armament and views of a submarine and battleship. A home movie showing people swimming from a British beach has been added to the end of the reel.
