Description

We see brief views of a man dipping sheep on a small holding. This is followed by a gathering of horse riders outside Bothe Hall at Sawley and then views of them riding along nearby roads (June 1980). After views of sheep and lambs in a field we see an agricultural show which includes a sheep shearing demonstration inside a tent. We then see canal boats at Shardlow with the Clock Warehouse visible behind. After scenes of the boats using the lock we see a large crowd gathered to welcome the Duchess of Devonshire (barely visible). We then see another large agricultural show with a crowd watching various displays. After shots of a fox hunt gathered outside a pub we see shire horses being shown at another agricultural event in front of a crowd. The next sequence shows a wet Shardlow Carnival (September 1979) including a parade of marching bands and floats through the village and a gathering in a field. The reel ends with more shots of sheep dipping.
