The film begins with a carnival parade through the streets of Smallthorne. The parade comprises a marching band as well as decorated floats (flatbed trucks). This is followed by the crowning of a 'queen' at the Victoria Methodist Church and a procession of children in fancy-dress. A bring and buy sale is subsequently held outside in a space alongside the church. Back inside the church and there are various processions with 'queens' and their attendants.
