Notes

Wood's Palace in Bilston was built by J Hickin and Sons to plans by architect Hurley Robinson at a cost of £30,000. The cinema, which opened on 17th November 1921, was built for Jospeh Wood and Sons Ltd. The interior of the cinema was designed by Hal Prince with a colour scheme that included orange, black, violet and blue. The seating for 1,400 people was in rich purple. In 1936 Thoms Wood, who in 1935 became Bilston's mayor, retired and the cinema was taken over by the Odeon. It closed on 22 February 1964 and later became a bingo hall.
