Description

"Hammer and Drop Forging". Views of drop forging hot metal and using an upsetting machine to forge steel bars. A commentary describes the processes involved. We then see railway brake levers being forged and then a large press being used to bend steel plate which are then assembled to form colliery pit tubs. We also see the electric welding and a multiple drilling machine being used. The next section shows activities in the wood work shop where timbers are planed to form the sides for railway wagons and old wagons are repaired. We then move on to the assembly shop where a mainly female workforce assemble small units. Finally we see the works doctor examining a patient.
