This film contains short sequences with the majority shot during family holidays in Westward Ho! There are five sequences. 1 (b/w). This section has the title 'Westward Ho! 1950'. There are a variety of shots of the coastline and the beach. A young boy plays in the sand and a group of women sit on deckchairs and men lie on towels. Following this is a shot of a steep cobbled street in Clovelly where children are riding donkeys up the street. A brief shot shows the exterior of St Peter's Church. Next we see the harbour at low tide and the family sitting on a pebbled beach. An old lady sits in a deck chair knitting. A boy plays in rock pools and builds a sandcastle. The family is seen going into their accommodation at Westward Ho! followed by views of tennis being played and a boy riding a horse on the beach and more scenes of the family clambering over stones on the beach.
2. (early 1950s) Women play rounders on the beach and children paddle in the water and ride horses on the beach. More views of Clovelly (harbour at high tide this time). A woman on a ladder paints the outside of a house.
3. Colour views of Polruan in Cornwall including the bay and views taken from the small Polruan ferry. Next there is a visit to the ruins of Polruan Castle.
4. This section is entitled 'Westward Ho! 1959'. The family picnic on grass. Two dogs run on a beach. There are views over a bay followed by another picnic. At an unidentified fishing port we see a trawler boat coming in and fish being lifted onto the quay in baskets and brief shots of fish being gutted.
5. A short sequence of a newborn baby being held for the camera. After this we see three children on a walk through the country and a trip to Dudley Zoo including shots of animals and brief views of the miniature railway. This section ends with children playing and dancing in a back garden.
6. At a family gathering people toast the camera and a box of chocolates are handed around.
7. A trip to Tewkesbury in Gloucester. We see women leaving home, a road sign for Tewkesbury and a view of the exterior of Tewkesbury Abbey and the Swan Hotel. This is followed by a view of the River Coln at Bibury, and buildings in the village including the Swan Hotel and a row of Cotswold stone cottages.
8. the final section (b/w) shows rolling hills and sheep followed by a fox hunt gathering in Faringdon town centre in Oxfordshire including a view of a huntsman outside the Bell Hotel.
