Description

Opening section shows the demolition of a building in Birmingham and the clearing of a site next to Trafalgar House at Suffolk Street and Paradise Circus. The next section shows an event held on 5 April 1962 in a tent on the site of Auchinleck House at Five Ways in Birmingham to lay the foundation stone for the new building. The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Eric Mole performs the honours and is accompanied by Claude Auchinleck and Frank Price of Birmingham City Council. In the next section we return to Trafalgar House and see night views of the exterior of the building and illuminated shop fronts (Kunzle Bakery, Withers Tobacconist, Scrivens Cameras and Restcots). We then see views of traffic at a road junction (listed as Yardley on film leader) followed by an establishing shot of a branch of Barclays bank and a row of houses (some boarded up presumably for a planned demolition). The final section shows exterior shots of the completed Trafalgar House.
