Description

The film begins with a map of the Mediterranean Sea with labels showing the destinations including Greece, Turkey and Israel. We see the view from an aeroplane window of the land and sea. The first stop is Dubrovnik in Yugoslavia (Croatia) where we see views of the town, coastline, cliffs and castle. There are views of the water from a boat of small boats and the coast of the bay of Pylos in Greece. We see some of the students walking around Greek ruins. There are some shots of the landscape including the monument to the Battle of Navarino. Some of the students sit outdoors and look at a stall selling souvenirs. After another boat trip we arrive at Heraklion in Crete. There are views of the quay side and street scenes featuring fruit and vegetable vendors. The children go on a tour of the ruins at Knossos. This is followed by views of the water taken from the cruise ship including mountains in the distance. Later the children are seen in a bus and then a visit to ruins at Aspendos in Turkey. On the stage in the theatre a group of men and women perform a dance. People walk around the ruins. Next we see a sign for 'Perge' the site of an ancient Greek city in Turkey. The group are led on a tour around an ancient ruin. There are also scenes showing the streets and local people. We see men of Muslim faith praying outdoors. After this there is a sequence of landscapes including mountains, fields and a lake. After a boat ride the group visits St Peter's House at Capernaum in Israel. We see people walking around the site. This is followed by a brief clip of a visit to Mary's Well at Nazereth. There are a number of shots of modern churches. Back on the ship and there are further views of the coastline and the sea. The ship stops at Santorini and a group a seen getting into a small boat to travel to the island. We then see the children riding donkeys on Santorini and shopping in a market. There are several shots of decorated houses and churches. The final sequence includes the arrival at Malta filmed from the ship including warships in the harbour. This is followed by views of the town.
