We begin with audio (no picture) relating to the history of the National Trust including a passage from the National Trust Act of 1907 being read out and a potted history of the trust from the 1880s onwards. The picture begins with views of Kinver Edge in Staffordshire which was the first Midlands acquisition by the Trust in 1917. This is followed by views of the exterior and interior of Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire. The commentary talks about the history of the building and it includes an inventory of items at the hall at the time of Bess of Hardwick read in character by an actress. The interior views of Hardwick include the shadow of 'Bess' projected on the walls as her 'ghost' walks the building. The picture ends here but the commentary continues to describe the features of Hidcote Manor and Chedworth Roman Villa which are two National Trust properties in Gloucestershire.
