Description

We open with a parade (likely to be High Street in Dudley where H. Whitford and Sons had a photographic business). From the vantage of an upstairs window we see riders on horseback, people wearing costumes, a kazoo band and decorated floats (a poster for the cinema film 'The Ringer' is visible which was a 1928 release). Next we see choir boys walking into a church and a group of children standing for the camera. This is followed by views of a funfair with swings and a coconut shy. The next section begins with an inter-title "H. Whitford presents a super film entitled The New Bungalow". Further inter-titles explain that the house is for E. Whiford and his future wife (both pose for the camera). We then see stages in the construction of the new bungalow. We also see a group walking towards the camera across a footbridge (one man holds a cat). Clowning on a bicycle in slapstick style is also included before we return to more house building. After shots of a man feeding several cats on a lawn we continue with "Clock Golf" between H. Whitford and E. Whitford on the lawn at Blackenwyte (presumably a house name - this is dated 28 August 1927 on the inter-title ('shot by Eric'). A brief shot of Rudolph Whitford smoking a pipe is also included. We then see children running towards the camera and a brief shot (marred by shakey camerawork) of children standing at a stone circle followed by further hard to make out shots of a walking point of view along a footpath. Further shots of the footbridge and cats seen earlier follow. Next we see bowls being played in a garden. The final section shows Herbert Whitford as 'The Stewponey Conjurer' as he performs a magic show in a garden.
