Intertitles are used to provide basic information throughout the film. It begins with 'dressing the [tube] moulds' by cleaning them and then applying grease to the internal surface. The 'core' is then fixed into position using stoppers at both ends and the two halves of the mould are closed together. A ladle of molten metal is then removed from a furnace and poured into the top of the moulds. Once cooled the tubes are removed from the moulds and the core removed. The tubes are then 'bored' and 'turned' to ensure the internal and external dimensions are correct. The tubes are 'drawn' through a die once the ends have been removed, the internal surface cleaned using a brush and the ends flattened using a hammer. The drawing process is shown in some detail.
