Peter Plant visits Galway Avenue at Chaddesden in Derby which is next to a construction site for the new A52 Borrosash bypass. Interviews with residents from the four houses closest to the work who complain of the noise and disturbance. They have requested a rent rebate but the figure they have asked for has been greatly reduced by the district valuer. They have also been refused double glazing as the rules say that this can only be provided by councils after a road is opened and the noise levels known. However people living at nearby Spondon have received double glazing. We see construction work for the A52 at both Chaddesden and Spondon. Interview with a spokesman for the council who says that there is nothing more that they can do. Interview with Philip Whitehead MP about the plight of the Galway Avenue residents.
