We see shots of Hiroshima, Japan after the atomic bomb featuring injured people, the decimated landscape and the atomic bomb mushroom cloud. Next we see shots of a classroom of men and women and a warden talking about working as part of the cvil defence corps.
The Warden talks about the effects of nuclear explosions and how to be a good warden. They watch a film called The Warden and the Householder.
In the film there are shots of a fictional warden called Mr White visiting the homes of people in Nottingham and answering their questions about planning for a nuclear attack on their homes. He also speaks to a head teacher, a green grocer and general public in the street.
We see shots from the film of a man and woman visiting the warden's home and looking at how to arrange a refuge room. Next we see shots of people preparing their homes with sandbags, painting windows and filling up water bottles.
