The opening titles include a Nazi flag and a picture of Adolf Hitler. We open in Dover with a shot of a woman getting into a car. A Southern Railway porter is seen carrying bags as members of the party queue for the boat bound for Ostend joined by others who have arrived on the Boat Train. Next we see the Mitropa train which takes the party through the night before arriving in Berlin Friedrichstrasse station. On the platform both Nazi flags are displayed alongside Union flags (this appears to be a highly organised visit). The group board coaches outside the station. We then see views of Berlin including traffic. The Brandenburg Gate is visible and a tram passes the Reichstag. Next we visit Lake Wannsee near Berlin where we see pleasure boats on the water. The next stop is at Sanssouci Park near Potsdam where a large fountain and windmill are seen. A short section showing people in the viewing area at Tempelhof airport follows (and some filmed stills- which are a feature throughout the reel). Back in Berlin city centre we see further shots of traffic, the exterior of the Hertie department store and an ornamental bell tower (captioned Hitler’s bell tower). We then continue with the organised visits and see excavations in connection with the building of S-Bahn lines and visit a tram and bus depot where we see trams being washed. The transport theme continues with shots of an express diesel train (on the Berlin to Hamburg route) and the demonstration of a road vehicle that is used to transport a railway wagon.
The next visit is to a large boat lift on the Berlin to Oder canal at Niederfinow followed by point of view shots returning to Berlin on the autobahn. We then leave Berlin by train bound for Nuremberg (a girl on the station platform hands out flowers to the departing tourists). In Nuremberg we see views overlooking the old town before we visit the medieval town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Back in Nuremberg there are further street scenes in the city and views from a train travelling to Munich. The Munich section is captioned ‘cradle and now the headquarters of National Socialism’. We see views of Konigsplatz square, a fountain at Wittelsacherbrunnen and a monument at Feldherrnalle which includes German solders standing guard. Further street scenes in the city follow. A toy figure dressed in traditional German costume introduces bierkeller culture and is followed by views of Lake Chiemsee in Bavaria where we see children in traditional German costume and men holding bierkeller tankards. The Chiemsee Bahn steam tramway is also seen. Another point of view shot on an autobahn leads us to views of Garmisch (including the Hotel Marktplatz). We continue into the Bavarian Alps on the Zugspitzbahn mountain railway and then by cable car. Next we visit Oberammergau, a town known for its famous passion plays where we see a small shrine and a bullock cart. Back on a train we have a view of the dining car before the reel ends with a steam locomotive in the platform at Wurzburg station.
