The film opens with aerial views and ground level shots of Rubery Owen at Darlaston. We then see inside a traditonal foundry and shots of a team in an office working on a project to automate the process. We then see an automated foundry developed by Rubery Owen in action at the Heeley and Peart iron foundry in Monmouthshire where they are using a Hallsworth Automatic moulding system. Next in Warrington we visit the research facilties for the aeronautical industry (E. H. Ltd on gates) where on a test rig components for Blackburn Buccaneer aircraft are tested. More research into hydraulics is seen at the Conveyancer factory at Warrington where fork lift trucks are manufactured. We then see radiation testing taking place for the A.E.A. at Wantage and combustion in domestic heaters being tested by Rubery Owen Heating followed by experimental aluminium casting at C & L Hill (Willenhall) This is followed by research into gauges for metal presses and various test rigs in use at the Darlaston works of Rubery Owen followed by a BRM Grand Prix engine on a test bed at Bourne in Lincolnshire. Finally the use of computers to solve problems is shown with a large industrial computer being programmed with punch cards.
