Description

We open with views of the bridge at Ironbridge and the exterior of the Telford Development Corporation office in the town. The Prime Minister James Callaghan arrives by car and is met by local officials. We is then see walking onto the historic bridge as a crowd looks on. Next we see Callaghan at Blists Hill where he inspects a disused beam engine and after speeches he is seen cutting the tape to open the Silkin Way. He then begins to walk along the new footpath before stopping to sit on a bench. Finally we see crowds and reporters outside the Telford shopping centre. Callaghan is again met by officials and then tours inside the Carrefour supermarket. He then walks through the shopping centre. A number of protestors with banners about the local hospital are also seen.
