Description

We open with establishing shots of the Council House and views of Market Square in Nottingham city centre. We then cut to views of the Goose Fair on the Forest recreation ground. There are views of roundabouts, a waltzer, a monkey riding a model airship (billed as the Monkey Stadium) and a sign for a flea circus. Next we are in a car driving alongside the River Trent passing the Embankment up to Wilford suspension bridge. We then see views of the war memorial and drive past a cricket match taking place on playing fields at Wilford.

The next section shows sports events for Sneinton children including running races, a sack race, high jump and a slow bicycle race. This is followed by an outdoor display of folk dancing and a drama performance. Next we see a fundraising event for St Alban's Church (likely to be in the vicarage garden). Three girls perform and dance and then another girl wearing a ballet tutu also performs.

Notes

The Nottingham Journal reported in early 1938 that film had regularly been used at St Alban's Church in Sneinton by Reverend Cyril Hardy as part of church services and to show social activities. This film may be part of those activities.
