Oxford Oddities is a student film made whilst A.W.V. Mace was studying at Wycliffe Hall theological college at the University of Oxford. The film includes spoof 'coming soon' cinema style captions and a brief shot of an LMS steam locomotive (reflecting the film-maker's railway interest). There are shots introducing the students who pose for the camera and staff wearing gowns or clerical collars. We also see a cricket match being played and streets in Oxford busy with students. One student drives away from an event in an Austin Seven. Eights Week rowing events also feature (a caption indicates that Oriel have retained the headship indicating this is in the period 1934-1936).
We continue in colour with a caption 'The Meteorite Xmas 1960'. Exterior shots of Rugby School and views of a hockey match. Views of boys walking from church including a view of Little Church Street. Runners finishing a cross-country race and then shots of a steeplechase with boys jumping across a brook and climbing a fence. Views of a formal military event which includes a display of physical fitness, guns being fired, rope climbing and a display with an anti-aircraft gun and a light aircraft flying overhead as a 'target'. Brief shot of a British Railways steam locomotive. Further shots of boys walking from church back to the school and a cricket match being played at the school.
