The film opens with a caption 'Profiles of people linked by one place of work - their factory' which is followed by a series of black and white stills of people featured in the series.
We are introduced to Clive Hodgson who works on the assembly line at the Raleigh cycle factory in Nottingham. Clive's passion is rock 'n' roll music and we first see him driving his car (a 1961 Ford Consul) singing 'Johnny Be Good'.
We see Clive working on the production line assembling bicycles, his voice over describes his background.
Next we see Clive on the street with a group of rock and roll fans all dressed as a Teddy Boys and then at home playing his large collection of 1950s records. He is then seen in a record shop.
Clive lives with his second wife and they have a baby (named Carl Gene after Carl Perkins and Gene Vincent).
Next we see more shots of Clive at work (singing to rock and roll) and then more shots of him driving and working on his classic car.
Fortunately Clive's wife also enjoys rock and roll and the pair are next seen getting ready to go out to a dance. At the dance we see groups of rock and roll enthusiasts, in costume, dancing and Clive working as a DJ.
Back at work we then see Clive and other workers clocking in and the on the production line in a stylised scene we see Clive and his work mates miming to a rock and roll song as they assemble bikes.
