Description

Views of roadbuilding around Kingston in London including Ruston powered dumper trucks and a cement mixer. Establishing shots of large buildings in London including Lloyds Bank and BBC Broadcasting House. We then see a BBC outside broadcast unit at an agricultural show with a shot of the Ruston stationery diesel unit that powers it. We then cut to the Lincoln factory of Ruston and Hornsby where we see views of the machining of crankshafts, engine blocks and cylinders for diesel engines including a drilling operation carried out by a machine controlled by punch tape. Tolerances are tested and we then see completed engines in the stores. After views of a dockside crane and a trawler boat we return to the factory where typists pass orders to the stores via a pneumatic tube. Stores orders are packed and then despatched from Lincoln by lorry.
