Inside the factory we see various production processes including a bottling plant, the tablet coating process, tablet counter, hygienic areas including those for antibiotic manufacture and the cortisone plant. We then see research and testing and laboratory work. There is also a shot of workers leaving the Beeston factory. Other aspects of research are shown with brief views of the veterinary science unit at Thurgarton and tomatoes growing in a plant research facility at Lenton.
The film then looks at the history of the firm beginning with a shot of the bust of founder Jesse Boot outside the University of Nottingham and a series of stills showing early branches. Further exterior shots of shops and views inside a branch as the commentary talks about the role of the pharmacist and how employees can progress through management. We also see the Boots medical and welfare services for employees and see a pharmacist at work in a branch.
