Opening section shows Walter Gotell driving his Bentley on the M6 motorway towards the F H Lloyds factory at Wednesbury accompanied by a representative from the firm. At the James Bridge factory at Wednesbury Gotell is introduced to Managing Director Michael Lloyd who explains the purpose of the Open House '70 exhibition and Gotell looks at various displays. We then cut to activities in the firm's steel foundry at Wednesbury followed by views of rolling and forging taking place at Wright Hingley of Netherton. The commentary describes rings being rolled for use on the Concorde aircraft. Next at John Bagnall of West Bromwich we see steel billets being rolled. This is followed by a piece to camera from Gotell explaining the benefits of Bagnall not being part of the nationalised British Steel. Gotell continues his tour of the exhibition by looking at work produced by other subsidiaries of F H Lloyd including Brown Lenox, Lloyds (Burton) Ltd, and E C and J Keay steel fabricators. We then see steel presses in operation and welding at Lloyds Steel Fabrications and automatic machine tools being used by Grazebrook of Dudley to drill boiler plates and boiler tubes being assembled at Spanner Boilers Ltd of Brierley Hill. Shots of QEII ship (another subsidiary Welin Davit of Brierley Hill supplied survival launching equipment). Finally we see the stand for the Midland Research Company.
