Description

Harold Turley is the last but one apprentice at the Ansells brewery in Aston. We see him being lifted into a large empty barrel as a small group of people watch. A dusty material is poured in on top of him, as three men dressed in workmans’ aprons strike the side of the barrel with hammers.

A fourth man then pours a pint of ale into the barrel on top of the apprentice. By-standers watch as a pale of dirty water is added to the barrel, which is then turned on its side.

The people around applaud and Turley, now out of the barrel, is presented with a certificate.
