Bill Pickering from Bloxwich is interviewed before his attempt to swim The Wash and tells of his previous ‘big swims’ including the English Channel in 1955, Firth of Forth in 1959.
Dressed in a suit and standing outside he says that The Wash is the hardest due to the tidal conditions and it had never been completed. This is his third attempt.
When asked about his training he says he usually begins in April and trains by swimming 7, 8, and 10 hours at a time.
