Edgbaston cricket ground is shown with the covers on and groundsmen hard at work in preparation for the opening of the Test Match the following day. Mute shots show the groundsmen pushing machinery along on soaking wet grass and men with brushes sweeping the water in an effort to dry the pitch.

Tim Downes interviews groundsman Bernard Flack and asks about the state of the wicket for tomorrow. He is confident that play will go ahead as the wicket has been kept dry with blankets to keep the water seeping in, and is in good condition.
