Description

John Cronin is the Labour MP for Loughborough. He is a consultant surgeon and lives with his wife in a house on Wimpole Street in London. We see him leaving his house and then riding a horse along a London mews and across Hyde Park. In a voice over he talks about his hobbies of riding and running. We also see him running (he doesn't jog but prefers to run fast for a mile).

We then cut to the home of Kenneth Clarke who is the MP for Rushcliffe in Nottinghamshire. He lives with his wife and children at Moseley in Birmingham. Clarke is seen relaxing and listening to his collection of American jazz records and playing in his garden with his children. He is interviewed about his interests and family life. We also see him playing chess against his son (his chess set is made up of political caricatures). He also talks about his collection of political cartoons (several prints of Gladstone are shown). Interview with Mrs Gillian Clarke about her role. Interview with Mrs Cora Cronin who describes the sometimes lonely life of an MP's wife. Exterior shot of the Houses of Parliament. Finally the two MPs are interviewed separately about why they entered politics. We also see Cronin dining at home with his wife and discussing food and there are stills of Cronin yachting.
