Views of a milk tanker at a farm. Dairy farmers say that they cannot continue to produce milk at the price that is set by the government. To add to their financial worries they are also paid in the 'green pound' which is a rate set by the European union and works out less than pounds sterling. Interview with the agriculture minister John Silkin about the problems in the dairy industry and what can be done to help. Views of a milking parlour on a farm in Gloucestershire and an interview with the farmer. Interview with another man who is against the government's cheap food policy (opposition spokesman or NFU?) Forty farmers are said to be leaving the industry every week. We then visit a small dairy farm at Pebworth in Worcestershire. Interview with the farmer who is not prepared to borrow money to stay in business. Shots of his Jersey herd in a field.
