Archive shots of the 1973 coup in Chile that ousted President Allende (copyright?) A group of refugees who escaped the purge have settled in Northampton aided by local couple Madeleine and Paul Heaney. Interview with one of the refugees, Anna Maria Garcia about being sponsored to settle in the UK by Mr and Mrs Heaney. Shots of a group of Chileans learning English. Interview with the Heaneys about their project which was inspired by a newspaper article about the conditions in the country. Exterior of a flat some of the refugees and using and exterior of Northampton police station. Anna Maria Garcia then talks about her Initial fears of having to visit the police to register. Most of the refugees have not found work due to the language barrier but we see shots of two who now work in a laboratory.
