Description

Stills of Andrew Faulds during his acting career and as a parliamentary candidate in Smethwick (later renamed Warley East). There are gaps in the interview where film clips or further stills may have been added. Peter Plant talks to Faulds about both his acting and parliamentary careers. He reminisces about his role in Jason and the Argonauts and describes himself in parliament as a 'dreamy idealist'. We see him at home in Stratford upon Avon with his wife Bunty and collecting his grandchildren from school. We then see him on stage at a school taking questions from children (including, what do you think about Margaret Thatcher?). The interview continues with him describing himself as the only resident visionary in the House of Commons. Faulds is the opposition spokesman on the arts and we also see him visiting the Tate Gallery in London and talking to its director Alan Bowness.
