Description

Exterior shot of the BRMB studio in Aston. Inside Roy Hattersley in seen in the studio presenting a programme of music. He talks to his listeners about his music taste (sad and sentimental songs) and them plays Wichita Lineman by Glen Campbell. Views of street scenes in his Sparkbrook constituency. Exterior shot of Ladypool Primary School and then views inside showing a visit by Hattersley to the school. Walking shot of Hattersley in Westminster. In a voice over he describes the Labour Party as being part of his life. Bruce Grocott talks to Hattersley's Labour colleague Dennis Skinner who says that Hattersley has ambition growing out of his ears. Grocott then talks to two unidentified political commentators before he asks Joe Ashton MP about Hattersley. Hattersley himself then talks about the compromises he makes to keep Labour together. Back in Sparkbrook we see Hattersley walking and talking to Florence Wright who has lived in the area for 35 years and is hoping to be rehoused. We see views of dilapidated and boarded up houses. Interview with the former Prime Minister Harold Wilson on Hattersley's performance in government. We then see Hattersley playing cricket with children in the playground of Ladypool School and finally we return to the BRMB studio with him playing more music.
