Programme presented by Zia Mohyeddin. The first item is a film report from the Commonwealth Institute in London. Paula Ahluwalia meets members of the Axis Photo co-op who have curated an exhibition of their photographs of the Greek Cypriot community. Ahluwalia interviews George Kyriakou; Panikos Efthimiou; Vicky Aloneftic; and Haris Pellapaisiotis of Axis and other unnamed Greek Cypriot visitors about their community and we see the photographic display.

Next in the studio Mita Hackett interviews Ziggy Alexander who has edited a new edition of Mary Seacole’s book about her time spent working as a nurse in the Crimean War.

1984 has been declared anti racist year by the Greater London Council (GLC). In the studio Vera Gilbert interviews Bernie Grant of the Black Trade Union Solidarity Movement and Alton Burnett from the Afro Caribbean Resource Centre in Birmingham about this initiative.

Finally in the studio Peter Emina reveals the winner of a recent Here and Now competition and ends the programme by interviewing the pop singer Sade. A clip from a Sade video is also shown.
